Hey guys! I know it’s been a while, but I’ve been abroad and then I moved into my new flat, so I’m sure you can forgive me. The neon post I promised approximately forever ago will be up tomorrow, but tonight I thought I’d get the New York Fashion Week post up and running before we jet off to London, and see what all the cool kids are showing. Now I actually LOVE New York as a fashion capital. London may be cool, Milan dramatic and Paris breathtaking but New York always has a restrained, clean, somewhat wearable vibe and sometimes, that’s a nice break from all the Lady Gaga-esque shenanigans.
The pics are all in the one gallery for ease and speed, but the main themes that came through from the big shows were:
- Black and White
- Pattern
- Sheers
- Crop tops
So nothing new there, we’ve been seeing these looks for a few seasons now; but that’s what Spring/Summer is all about, refining and emphasising the trends that work whilst subtly dropping those that have become tired. Autumn/Winter is for drama and conceptual design (think D&G’s ode to Sicily this year).
There are a few random shots thrown in the gallery, unusual colours, drop waists, sparkles and some just plain pretty, even if they don’t quite slot in with the main trends.
Also included for you to drool over is Marchesa‘s latest offering. They never really go with the trends, they stick to what they do best, feathers, froof, fantasy. Amen, sister.
